What are you looking for out of this setup? You have to realize 95% of the responses you'll get here are from bassheads, so before you turn your Utopia/Mc setup into something only good for playing Jeezy you might want to reevaluate what you're looking for.

My Hifonics BXi 2608D amp shines in my system. Easily doing over 145 on 2 Pioneer 10's in my trunked car.

I honestly think people that bash on Hifonics have never tried one and only imply it sucks from hearing others mention it on here.

Such a shame, because Maxxsonic produts put out good stuff for a nice price point on most of their line.

Edit: Sealed XXX is a no go as mentioned, port that beast.

Don't ask about the Hifonics amp....it is what it is...I'm lucky enough to have higher end everything else. Eventually I may end up getting a better amp.

I though that the XXX did extremely well in a sealed enclosure. Does it only pertain to the older 05 model XXX's? I went with this sub as I only wanted one 12 which had great SQ and capable of putting out serious bass when wanted.

Wouldn't a ported box take away from the SQ?

I don't have any experience with the newer XXXs, but I loved the older ones sealed.

You gotta understand, your sub is a BEAST, it needs a beast of an enclosure. Seriously, the XXX will run sealed, but its doing it an injustice. build a new enclosure and you won't regret it.

I've heard a sealed XXX get **** loud, its not the sub. you are doing something wrong. and the sub is almost non-existent above 60Hz, but who cares. its a lowend monster.

I would have to agree with everyone on the ported box. I'm running a xxx 12 off a 3000d sundown in a box tuned to 34 hz and sounds really good. Nice full range and ridiculous lows.

Nothing wrong with your Hifonics amp. Don't let the naysayers get you down saying it is junk. I have owned quite a few amps in my day and this is one of my favorites thus far, but I have the 2608d, which is a little more powerful, but same line. Amp gets it done and doubt it is your amp, unless you have it wired up wrong.

05 models do well in sealed boxes and 06 and up are more geared for ported boxes IIRC.

The whole thing about losing SQ through a ported box is nothing but a myth to me. I used to generally run sealed boxes and thought the same thing you just mentioned, if I go ported I will lose SQ, but if setup right in a ported box, it can sound just as good and get loud as piss! My setup is ported now on two 10" subs and sounds a shit ton better than all the setups I have had in this car in 3 years and that is quite a few.........which have all been sealed setups and my ported setup sounds cleaner and gets louder than anything I have had before in this car. I have more power, so that is understandable why I get louder, but I get better sound overall on all types of music on my ported setup than sealed.

its the worst when that happens. i have a 15" Orion HCCA. i had the exact amp as you believe it or not. i love hifonics you cant beat the power for the price. i tried a new amp the power acoustik 3000ab. it was like night and day i couldnt believe it. what is you box tuned to?

And according to RE's specs, the 12" XXX has an EBP is 52.

So maybe you'd like to rethink your stance that the new model XXX is a ported only driver?
