From an 1800DT I wouldn't get my hopes up for 1,600watts. With that amp, you can consider yourself very lucky if you can get 1.2kw of clean power out of it.

As far as 1600 watts @ 4 Ohms vs 1600 watts @ 1 Ohm... typically, it is cheaper to buy an amp that puts out that kind of power in a low impedance load... a DVC 2 ohm sub like the XXX can present a 1 ohm load and allow a 1 ohm stable amp to 'give it everything it's got' so you are really going to be using the amp at 1 ohm, where as typically at 4 ohms (on a mono amp, at least) you are not running the amp that hard... if that makes ANY sense.

Think I got it. The sub doesn't know the diff. but the amp works harder at 1ohm than 4ohm.

Sooo... what amp would give me a clean 1600 watts to the XXX,

Dual 2 Ohm, quad 1.4, dual .7 available

I know the dual 2 can only go to 1ohm or 4ohm. do the others give me a chance to wire 2ohm.

Even if that amp put out 1800watts like it says or even more for that matter, I wouldn't worry about blowing the XXX unless you have the gains WAY WAY up. I run 2200-2400watts to my XXX daily which it handles no problem. Most people will tell you 1500-1800watts will push it enough, which is true. You can pay $15 extra and have the XXX made in a DVC 4ohm configuration, which give you the ability to wire parallel to a 2ohm load.

I agree, if you can wait a little, I think the RE 36.1 will be a phenominal amp, if it is anything like the 35.1

It's best to go through an authorized dealer, if anything happens with your product you'll have a much better warranty. This is why I'd pricematch with sounddomain (authorized dealer), rather than directly going through http://www.ikesound.com (unauthorized).

Tsunami db1800d If I get it in 2 ohm how would this amp be.

How much does the THD % mean to a sub amp cause the Brutus is like .08% and the Tsunami is at .5%

read my sig on the XXX. the mmats 1400.1 pushes about 1700 watts and this sub eats it up like its nothing. i can get this amp for $550 from a dealer friend if interested. retail is $899. whatever you get i wouldnt go any LOWER in wattage than what i have. i need more power and will probally be getting a 2200.1 soon! peace
