Looking for some input on a new box for my 05 XXX. Its in a 6^3ft @ 37hz box right now but its lacking some of the lows. Was wondering what size box and tuning i should go with for the new box. I searched but couldn't find anything helpful on the 18". Its gonna be ran on a pair of Aq1200d's for a power ref.

Thanks

I was thinking around 34 hz would be better for daily. Just didnt know how big i need/should make it. Tried to find some info on them but haven't been able to find box sizes that they recommended.

Assuming the box is actually tuned to 37 Hz, which is a bit high for a setup like that (daily atleast, the box may have been tuned to 37Hz simply as a stand-alone box. The RE XXX 18" takes up a whopping 0.3 cubic feet of sub displacement, and that's enough to knock the tuning up another 1-1.5Hz making it even higher than intended. Especially since the XXX 18" has an Fs of 15Hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif you need a bigger box and lower tuning. Try 8 cubic feet (after all displacements are accounted for) tuned to 32 Hz.

Did you not even check the RE website?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif 6 cubic feet is the MINIMUM recommended enclosure volume for ported. Optimal is 9 cu. ft and that's optimal, not max, you could even go a tad larger, but I'd shoot for 8-9 if you've got the room. With some extra internal volume and a lower tune, that sub should ****ing destroy your car.

Thanks for the info. As far as i know its tuned to 37hz, thats what i was told when i got it :p It hits the higher end lows very nice but i want some nasty lows in my truck. I really wanna be able to do a hair trick but i don't know if the 1 18" will move enough air to do that...may need have to get a 2nd and do a wall. he he

Thats for the new XXX, I got the 05. Didn't think they had the same box recommendations.

Hmm, well... 18" of cone diameter is 18". Even if the Fs and some other T/S parameters are different, I would assume that thing needs some more volume. Let me go do a quick search on the T/S and see if I can't come up with anything for the '05 model.

Managed to find T/S parameters for '05 model.

FS 29hz

Re 1.9 DVC

Qms 5.09

Qes .64

Qts .59

Sd cm2 1210

Vas 244.2

Xmax 32mm/one way

BL 17.1

1W/1M 91.8

RMS 1600

Max 2500

It's a bit lower of Fs and less Xmax, but it will still get low. No info on recommended volume, and it does have a significantly lower Vas, so it would use less volume, 6 cubes still seems small to me though.
