wtf?

you should also learn that CACO is not the place to go to learn ANYTHING!!! only reason to go on that site is to buy and sell ish, lol
I just did. Lol. My whole thing is I have the same truck as the guy that asked this... and I know from experience with small systems (600-800watts) that MY truck doesnt handle it well. I dont see one battery helping THAT much.

Those numbers are ratings put out by the manufacture to give you an idea of what they claim their product can do.

The way you find out what your max needs or draw on the system would be is to do a test with a volt meter and an AC amp clamp anything else is only going to be a guess.

Volts times amps = watts

Measure the AC volts from the speaker wires

Clamp the positive speaker wire as close to the amp as possible

Multiply the two numbers and you have watts

Sounds simple but there is more to it than that you will need some test tones to get an accurate measurement and you will need to let it roll for a few seconds to get a real number and not a peak number.

Now with music the total draw is always going up and down and what you want to know is can my electrical system keep up with the audio system right?

I think alot of those dudes are going off of what these car audio battery manufacturers are recommending for these systems. I agree with you that more is better but I havent tested whether you could get a 3000 watt car audio battery from one of these big name companies and actually run 3000 watts to it without running into any bad voltage drops or anything.

So did you respond and set him straight instead of posting on a different forum about a thread on a different forum that doesn't really pertain to anything here except you instigating?

actually I did... the only reason I posted this is because what I'm reading in that thread goes against everything I've ever read here. I had a thread the other day about what I could run with my electrical that consists of 250amp alt and 150ah worth of battery. Most people said in the 3k area. But apparently I can run that on stock electrical with just an extra battery. My electrical should be able to run 6-7k daily according to the theory of the thread I mentioned. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

oh bc you're from caco.

So was I supposed to keep it a secret where I read this? I wasn't trying to instigate anything actually. I was simply stating where I read the thread. What is the harm in that? I wasn't attacking CACO or anyone associated with that forum. It really doesn't matter where it was posted, I. Was more concerned with the information being given and I was curious if I was th only one that found it To be bad information.

i did like how he pointed out its was on caco like it made a difference.
I read it on "forums unknown". Happy now? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif what difference does it make? I stated where I read something..

what the fuck are you doing on caco?
Good question... I was browsing the classifieds mostly. Happened to read that thread because I was curious what was recommended because I wanted to run around the same power. There are some very knowlegable members there..but I don't agree with the advise being given in said thread. That's all.

What bothers me is that people are guessing at what’s needed instead of testing to see. Its so easy to check your system and know what it needs to run safely. People on one web site making guesses are no better than people on another site making guesses their still guessing. Why not just explain how to test a system and give people some good info that really helps them.
