As the title says, the positive terminal on my battery melted while the car was off. Or at least that's what the body shops claims.
My car is the process of being repainted due to a crash that it suffered on the right hand corner.
According to the shop, it was sitting there while it spontaneously started to smoking. The employees rushed to open the hood and saw a small fire coming from the side of the engine (The driver's side towards the front). The shop is going to get someone to look at it to see if any damaged was done to the engine.
They quickly doused the engine with a fire extinguisher. Upon further inspection, they saw that the side positive terminal (the part where they screw goes in) on the battery had melted. When got there, I checked the terminals on top to see if something had caused them to make contact and they were 100% intact.
What could it be?
Is it the batter?
Here are some details about the car:
-2000 Camaro Z28
- The battery is a yellow top otpima (About a year old)
- I swapped in an 145 amp alternator.
- I installed a BIG 3 kit that I ordered from a sponsor from this website
- I have two amps installed. A mono amp and a 4 channel amp
- Once again, according to the shop, the car was off when this happen.
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Joel
