According to the Optima site, the only battery they make that will go under my hood (97 Bravada, 4.3l V6) is a redtop.

Funny thing is, I searched for a battery for a blazer, as they are the same truck, and they dont have ANYTHING that will work for that.

Is the site incorrect? Anyone have or know someone who has a yellow top under the hood of their Blazer?

If it will fit in your car, then it will work. I found an brand new optima yellow on ebay 2 years ago, and it just so happened to fit in my car perfectly. Ive had it for almost 2 years with no problems. Just use the battery for the blazer, it should work.

Theres nothing shown that will fit a blazer. That only adds to my confusion, same engine, so how would a red top fit the bravada and not a blazer?

It's not as simple as physically fitting in the stock battery location. There ARE other variables...not that no yellow top will work. If you really want a yellow top to power the stereo system, you might consider using a yellow top as a second battery.

BTW...Deep cycle batteries are not designed to be used to start the vehicle as the cca ratings are generally low.

Im sure it will fit, especially if its identical. I didnt even look for what would fit. I just looked at the picture, and judged how big it would be, and it turned out perfect. Most larger cars, and suvs can fit most size batteries.

750 cca is lower that stock for all my cars which are all between 800 cca and 900 cca. Not that they wont work, but, generally speaking, a deep cycle is more likely to leave you stranded then a starting battery - All else being equal of course.

I cant find on the site where it says what vehicles they fit.. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

Edit, nevermind I found it...

Says nothing will fit in my vehicle, yet I measured and it WILL fit. Do they know something I dont?

It says theres isn`t one for my jeep aswell and i`ve had both a red and yellow*which is in right now*hell, that site don`t even have my model# of benz and i`ve got a red top under it`s hood.

**** that guide, i bought a optima, if it fits and you can connect it it fits, i guess i bought the import version an di pu tit in my domestic truck no problems what so ever. And the optima yellow top is a starting and deep cycle battery, also i never seen a stock battery 800+ CCA. my Ford one was 550 CCA

Other way around. Deep cycle batteries generally will come back quicker from deep discharges and retain voltage under load better than a regular lead acid. Unless you're routinely starting in sub-zero temperatures, I doubt the difference is noticeable. I've never had a problem starting my vehicle off the Yellow Top in the three years I've had it in there...and I've started it in 10 degree weather.
