WTF MECA Drive by?????????????

Hold up there chief...

You dont know how i control my vehicle, nor do you know how Tommy controls his, or Pipo controls his. Our vehicles are designed to sit in side of it during a bass race run. I don't think you understand how loud these things are and how much these things move things around inside. You HAVE to sit inside these things. It's VERY easy to kill a sub if you don't know what you are listening for.If you are standing outside of the truck how can you hear a coil slapping? As Pipo said, his knobs move around inside the vehicle and it'l go louder/quieter as the subs move everything around inside, causing amps to clip out and kill subs. I'll never blow a sub, because i know what to listen for while inside the vehicle, but if you aren't inside to listen to the tell-tale signs then how are you supposed to know when your starting to hurt equipment? We are playing on the extreme side of car audio, and once you see what i have in the truck when it is 100% done you'll see why i am so concerned. A normal 'recone' won't fix my problem, looking at many thousands of dollars of tooling to make another assembly.

I've been doing meca for many many years...i got out of it when the fuse rules came around, and it continues to go south...every year. I'm going to knock it, it isn't drive by anymore. It's pull up and park and hope you don't tear something up...these vehicles that i'm talking about are NOT daily drivers, they are very very extreme. My daily driver could sit there and do it all day every day....and never have an issue. But it's besides the point, it is not drive by. Don't call it something that it isn't.

I feel you man. And understand your concerns. I am not taking up for the rule change because I don't like it. I feel that the driving to the mic was unavoidable. It was just a matter of time before someone got seriously hurt.

The not being able to sit in the car is something I think that needs to be reviewed because driveby is supposed to be for daily driven vehicles. Which means systems that are operated from the inside. I like doing driveby but am no where near on the level as Tommie Pipo or Eric even yourself if you are on their level. I have a fun install that I am about to do. I'm only looking to break a 155 at the headrest and a 130 in driveby. It takes alot of money and time to be extemely loud. I don't have any right now making investments for my future so I don't have to work all my life.

Another thing the rule makes you think about. With cars getting as loud as they are over 160 dbs on music. Thats alot of pressure on the human body. What happens if someone dies during bassrace, bassboxind, or any other formats that you must endure 30 seconds of pounding. I think someone should research the effects of pressure on the body.

All I want is to be able to sit in the car.

My shit's not even that loud in driveby anyways, I don't see why it's a big deal. I sign a waiver on my scoresheet that waives all liability from MECA, so I'm still confused as to why this is an issue.

I can't control my shit from the outside. It just won't happen. I run one sub and only 60 amps of fusing thanks to stupid fuse rules, so I'm always living on the edge of either blowing my fuses or toasting a sub.

I can already tell that MECA lost a few more big name driveby competitors because of the rule change, and I only see it getting worse from here.

I love(d) competing in MECA, but shit has just gotten gayer and gayer every year.

I dont predict MECA to be around much longer anyways. I will be pulling myself away from MECA this year and headed into DBdrag, it was fun while it lasted but MECA's so called R&E com. doesnt seem to care much about its veteran competitors.

James is right, its just not worth the increased cost to do this event the was it has previously been run.
I highly doubt that MECA will fold because of the change. I witnessed the new format ran at this year's Freezefest and at Carl Casper 2008 and there were no complains/incidents that im aware of. No one really commented to me about the change either during both shows.

Pipo, im sorry that you do not wish to compete in MECA because of this change. IMO thats really an easy way out of just dealing with it and getting into the lanes. MECA has always been a fun atmosphere, and we dont need anyone getting hurt doing so.

I understand but I really can afford to do a podium and all kind of crap now plus is not like we have a lot of MECA shows down here so is not really worth to spend all that time and money for just one show.

I just don't get it every other organization let you be inside but anyways it was fun to do this at least ones I guess.

I agree with you on this Tommy, its not even been clear to me exactly why this waiver signature doesnt extend to sitting in the vehicle as well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I totally understand that reasoning. If its for one show, its not worth the effort. Which is too bad (for me at least) since I wont be able to check out your setup anytime soon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Perhaps in the future at some other show.
