Are you kidding me???????????????//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

"1. No one may be in the vehicle during pass. System must be operated by remote, external head unit, or podium."

And this is what you call this class???????????//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

“Drive-by SPL Parade”

Did you guys change it to "Stop by SPL standing" now????????

I just saw this after I register to do this again at SBN and if this is the case i want my $$$ back then because this is by far stupid. There is now way I can control my truck from the outside, some of my knops move during this and I need to be inside to hold them.

Please tell me this is a joke:furious:

Not a joke, its a revision to the rules this season due to underlying saftey issues concerning the vehicle moving thru the lanes during this portion of the event.

There have been incidents of people almost being run over, not to mention that this portion of the event would of increased the insurance premiums for the event to an outragous amount of money. If it would of continued in the old format, prices for competing would of reflected the cost and no one would of wanted to go that route.

The name of the class is probably under review at the moment, but for now it remains as "drive by". But it is more like "Park and pound" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Believe me, MECA did not want to change the format at all. Steve totally hated doing this but from a cost standpoint vs. deleting the event it was better to just modify the format and move on with life.

If whatever knobs move during the pass, then maybe you should consider relocating them, or putting some tape on them or something similar. I understand that you compete in various organizations, but im sure you also realize by now that its quite hard to be cross compatiable with all the rules within all of the major organizations. Basically if you want to play, you got to play by the rules.

We all hate the rule change. But I also understand that it was needed. Some people get to excited and almost run people over. Actually I believe there is a few instances that people have been ran over. After witnessing Erics driveby run last year this is something I somewhat have to support. I wish that we had the option to sit in the vehicle for those that are not at the unbearable levels such as Eric. There is no way in hell I would have sat in Erics van at full tilt. It was pounding the hell ot of me standing a few feet back.

We've mourned the death of quite a few orange cones in the past few years because of this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I can understand the insurance thing on a moving car but you don't have to have the car moving they can just always line the car up where it goes. I done this and I only pull my truck after that the truck stay there the whole time i did not move it.

And if they are also doing this to protect competitors ears then make them sign a waiver that's all.

Also if people might get run over then someone needs to make sure when this is going on no one should be in fron or back of the vehicle.

If this rules stay then i'm sorry I'm never doing it again and so is a lot of guys in the DB5 class at least.

we've already had this discussion on the MECA forums and what its boils down to is that this is how its gonna be, unless we can come up $X0,000's per year for the insurance company to allow us to continue doing it...

James is right, its just not worth the increased cost to do this event the was it has previously been run.

I highly doubt that MECA will fold because of the change. I witnessed the new format ran at this year's Freezefest and at Carl Casper 2008 and there were no complains/incidents that im aware of. No one really commented to me about the change either during both shows.

Pipo, im sorry that you do not wish to compete in MECA because of this change. IMO thats really an easy way out of just dealing with it and getting into the lanes. MECA has always been a fun atmosphere, and we dont need anyone getting hurt doing so.

Definitely not going to run the risk of tearing a bunch of subs up for it...and this is the only thing i'd do in MECA these days..

Guess ill just go to the show and show off, and tell the people the rules won't allow the vehicle to run the way it is intended to when they ask 'what that shit hit.' //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

So you'd blow subs showing off rather than in the lanes? Doesn't make much sense to me but oh well for each his own.

Also if you run the vehicle that way it was intended to you wouldn't blow subs. But for some reason we all like to put double the rated power on our subs and run amps below rated. If a sub is blown or an amp is fried oh well its part of it. Mike blew subs each pass. He knew he would just didn't care. We will see what happens. most hated when driveby changed to 30 sec average but know everyone thinks it was a great change to eliminate one not wonders.

Not trying to bash you man but just saying give it a chance before you nock it. You might like it then you might not. I agree those that want to sit in their car should be able to sign a waiver.
