WTF is wrong?

ok my friend had his system for about 2 weeks and just today iono what the f@!@ happen but its all f(*#@ed up. First thing that happen was that i turned on the radio and there was a big pop that came out of his subwoofers. So i turn off the stereo and it pops, i turn it on and it pops. Next thing i notice is that when i have the stereo on , there is only noise coming out from the subwoofers, and no sound from the speakers that r connected to the HU. The noise that comes out from the subwoofers is all hizz and its all distorted. So i checked the amplifier and checked the RCA's and theyre are fine, i disconnected the RCA's and the speakers connected to the HU suddenly are playing music, i connect the RCAs back in and they turn off. Hes got a pioneer headunit its a DEH-1600 and was wondering if its the pre-outs that are messed up, since people here say the pioneer pre-outs ****. By the way he told me that the day be4 he had a blown fuse because the + power wire got pinched and touched the ground, he changed the wire and put in the fuse and thats were the problem began, what do u guys think is the problem?

just so your not worryin....I dont know the reason...but I know there is one for the popping...just keep chillin.

Are the RCAs maybe bad?

i tried some different RCA's and is the same crap, im going try that pre-out put thingy that some1 posted.

i wonder if the pioneer shuts off the internal HU amp when something is plugged into the RCAs?

Or MAYBE the short circuit fried the output sections of the HU?

my thoughts are this: A. the HU shuts off internal power when something is plugged in the RCAs(don't know how that works) or B. something is wrong with the HU now that it shorted and plugging in the RCAs SOMEHOW triggers that. Weirder things have happened.

You don't know if it EVER worked with speakers hooked up AND rca's active?

If you have the manual or could find it online, there might be answers in there.
