WTF do i do about this?!?!

You shouldnt have to be doing that s**t though.
i know, this sux. but how the hell do u avoid shit like this? any1 know of anykinda site for rating landlords (like the rate-a-proffessor site)? i wanna see what others think of him, hes kinda shady and that worries me.

It is kind of hard to approach this, because when you do tell the landlord about them taking your alcohol they will probably laugh at you.
well the thing is, my landlord seems kinda scared...like hes never been a landlord b4 so hes really nervous. so id be kinda suprised if he laughed. but if he seriously doesnt do anything, i will file a police report and i wont pay rent till i get my shit back

idea:install a new lock on the door that only you/your roommates have a key too

that way, the landlord/maintenance people can only get in with your permission
i would have done that already, but it says in the lease that if i do that i can get evicted.

that is an idea, I did that once in one of my apartments. They told me I couldnt do that, so I put a keyed doorknob on my room door. Most of my valuables were in my room anyway.

Thats a no brainer..new dead bolts cost like $10 for a cheap one. A good one might be $25. Or do like i do and get two big *** mean dogs. I think the landlord will justl laugh when you tell him someone stole your beer. Change the locks asap and dont tell the landlord.

im not talking about changing the existing lock, just adding another

that way the landlord's key will still work and all that

He by law has to give you notice that he is coming in the unit. So if you change the locks and he comes by unexpectedly trying to break in and finds the lock changed what can he do? Say "i didnt give you any notice and i was coming by to steal your crap and noticed you changed the locks...your evicted" doubt it..
