I'm pretty sure your chic/ ex-chic whatever doesn't have to pay such a hefty fine. I'd go in, be very polite, ask what the current amount owed is. Talk to the store manager, not the security personal. You will find that store owners are usually town people as where the security is corporate directly and they will follow EXACT policy. Find out what can be done to take care of this problem, apologize for the mistake pay the amount (nothing more than 50 in my own opinion) and then leave.
