Like title says, kenwood-alpine-eclipse come to mind. Whatever you got, units face must be in good condition.

MUST HAVE USB CONNECTION, or a way to play an ipod

heres a unit with all the functions im looking for as a comparison Kenwood Excelon KDC-X396 CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

Would like a nice EQ in unit but that kenwood above only has a 3 band, but a 7 band would be awesome

I have a x994 in my truck and love it.

Have a clarion dxz-715 for sale. Can play iPod through aux in and it has 3 4v preouts

you dont need a new H/U just get a audiocontrol matrix its a line driver instead of 4 volts pre-outs you get 13 volts peak out or the over drive 7.5 volts either one rocks

Yes i do, i need a higher bit analog to digital converter. Im not trying to simply boost my preouts, other wise i get a cadence 7volt 1/2 din EQ

Same here. I really want a x993, 994 or 995. Wish i could find one for 140 like the underfighter. Its hard looking for used alpines because i never know which ones have the features with/without the imprint, so i have pretty much given up on them.

And that is exactly why I DIDN'T go with Alpine. The 9887 is the last deck the made that had any options really. They've become the Apple of head units. Comes with nothing, you have to buy every other little feature that every other deck comes standard with, (ipod, eq, t/a, satellite, BT), and you have to buy their specific over-priced peripherals. The only difference between their low-end and high-end units are 2v and 4v pre-outs; they're pretty much useless without an imprint.

Well now im leaning towards reverse's 9855, seems to have alot of good functions(bass engine pro, media expander, and max tune sq) and i can get an ipod cord for it

but i just may go with the new 396, has the same features as the 994 and stuff dosnt it? Just no bluetooth, and 3band vs 5band

As I said in the PM, the 9855 is a gem, one of the last few good ones made.

And yes, the 396 appears to be the same as the 994 but with the 3-band, no BT, and different cosmetics/layout.
