Wrong Guage of Wire? ordered off ebay.

ok I called back and talked to the same guy.. he said that he was the supervisor in charge.. after a long "civil" talk.. I talked him into letting me return it for a full refund...

one thing he said... was that wire guage was measured by the outside insulation diam. so I asked him if there was 20 guage wire inside and 4 guage insulation over that the wire would be considered 4 guage wire? he said yes... so then I said and you would sell that to power 3000watts? after a long pause he tried to change the subject, I said no. tell me.. so he said no. so I told him then why are you doing this with 8 guage wire and 4 guage insulation.. that's what got him to give me the return.. he knew how to squirm out of situations but I knew how to squeeze harder... heh...

That sucks, I ordered my amp kit from them with absolutely no problems. In fact the kit they sent me had longer cables then what was advertised, which actually saved my @$$. Let them know.

It could have easily been shorter cables than advertised.....Got lucky!

son of a bi**h. i just bought wire off of him. as long as it isnt 16 ga wire and is recieved in a week ill be happy.

i've done business withthem too and they should replace it.......

HOWEVER.....many cheapo brands out there lable thier wireing kits as a certain gauge but use thick *** insulation and less accual wire....ans that sucks when that happens...in that case there may not be much for them to do for you since the product IS as stated....the product is just cheap quality....

American Wire Guages have no play to them... they are a certain girth of wire period. Adding insulation does not make it a different guage, there is no way around it.

it's ok.. I've already sent the wire back... just hope he dosn't try to screw me... again...

but yea.. I figured that wire had to be a standard guage to be sold as that... there should be some sort of standard rule

if this happens again for an EBAY order, just do what is right. Get a mediator to deal with it from square trades. You don't have to do anything but sit back and wait.
