Wrong Guage of Wire? ordered off ebay.

I ordered a 4 guage wiring kit off of ebay from a company called CMTTRADING. I just recieved it today and the wire appears to be 8 guage, even thought it states on the side of the wire that it is 4guage. I'm compareing it to some rockford 4 guage wire. and even tried it with some 4 guage and 8 guage fuse holders.. it's just to small to be 4 guage I believe. the even sent me a 4 guage fuse holder with the slide out sleaves so it can fit 8 guage... and it's obviously to small without the sleaves..

isn't there a set standard for sizes of wire?.. or can companys thing that 4 guage is the size they want it?... I'm confused and upset over this..

Its usually a standard size.

Some companies have thicker insulation than others.

8ga should look like a pen, 4ga more like a sharpie

I cut the insulation off about 1/2" back to measure the wire... there is no way this is 4 guage hmmmm let me get a sharpie.. ... ok .. I measured the wire with a sharpie and a bic pen... I took the tip off of the pen and just had the hollow tube and the wire goes into it easily with room to spare, and the 4 guage I have from rockford dosn't even fit inside.... grr.. and I should have know.. since it took them almost 3 weeks to get it to me.

Exact same thing happened to me with CMT before. I bought a 1/0 power kit from them and they sent me a dual 4ga power kit. I emailed them about their mistake and they apologized and got it worked out. the guy said that it's 4..

so i asked him what size of fuse holder comes with the wire..

he said "a 4 guage holder with a spacer for smaller wire"..

so I said .." the wire will fit into the spacer with no trouble".. and that "I could fit two pieces of wire into the area without the spacer"..

he said "well.. you can ship it back to us for a refund"..

and I said "without a restocking fee?"

and he said " no restocking fee but you won't get the shipping back"

I said "that won't work. I want you to pay for my return shipping back to you and the whole amount I paid in the beginning."

he said " sorry we can't do that"

so I told him " I"m going to have to contact the BBB"

he said " that's ok you do that" so I said " ok... good luck to you" and then I hung up.

omg... what a punk... sounded like a 18yr old punk from calli that had no idea what he was talking about.

no offence to anyone who is 18 or younger.

phone back, see if you get a different person

Or ask to speak to the manager

If the manager isnt in then ask then he will return, if the kid doesnt tell you then just phone back later.

That sucks, I ordered my amp kit from them with absolutely no problems. In fact the kit they sent me had longer cables then what was advertised, which actually saved my @$$. Let them know.

It's doing things like this with a fair degree of regularity that has caused CMTTrading and their other selling ID, JudysDeals, to have less-than-stellar feedback percentages.

I would suggest a NEG feedback regardless if they exchange it or not....3 weeks to deliver the wrong Sh!t.....I am even upset....Dang!
