The best thing he can do right now is to start signing over his posessions to close relatives. The house and the cars need to be "sold" to his parents or someone he trusts. That way when the divorce comes, he has no assets. No need to quit his job. If cause of divorce was for a cheating spouse, she won't be getting any alimony. By him keeping his job and her not having one, he stands a better chance keeping his kids.

You really are getting into an area that varies from state to state. However, in general, the concept of "fault" in divorce proceedings is going by the wayside. It is certainly incorrect to assume that courts base property settlements primarily on who was screwing around. It's more about splitting the marital assetts and getting the parties on with their lives. Where you really get hit hit today is not so much on alimony but rather child support and the courts do not "punish the kids" because momma was getting railed.

In most states the affair only matters if the non cheating spouse can show that marital assetts were somehow diverted for the purpose of the affair -- such as setting up a loveshack.

BTW, I got the impression that those were not his kids, I could be wrong though.
