Would you use this?

I need some opinions. Going to recone one of my hcca 124s and I can only find one seller on eBay selling them. I can’t find them in stock anywhere else online. My problem is they seem to be sending me used kits that look like returns. I just sent one back and got another from them and it’s literally the same deal. Blue thread lock in the spider mounting holes, scuffs on the inner coil, and the spider definitely isn’t as firm as previous ones I’ve bought. Yes I know don’t buy these things from eBay but I literally can’t find them anywhere else

The drips of glue on the former are a nice touch.

Honestly they seem about right for Chinese build quality. Hit or miss availability of drop in kits has been an issue with these new style HCCA subs for like 8 years at least. If they function you might as well use them because as you say, where else are you going to get any and when?

Which is one very good thing about the stuff build around off-the-shelf frames and using traditional sized parts is that you can always source parts elsewhere to keep a motor going. It would involve a fair bit of custom machining to just get any kind of standard frame on the HCCA motor these days, meanwhile I've gold some old (TC9) HCCA subs here and even though TC sounds has gone out of business 3 times and Orion is no longer DEI I can still readily get parts to rebuild them with several different options.
