Would you trade...

Wait a minute.. That SoundStorm is a mono block capable of a 2ohm mono load while the Rockford is a stereo amp capable of a 4ohm mono load meaning the subs would need to be wired in series for an 8ohm mono load which will bring the Rockfords power output down considerably.

The Rockford is a better amp than the Soundstorm but I don't think its the right amp for your application. You need to find an amp that puts out 600 to 800 watts rms into a 2ohm mono load which the Rockford is simply not designed to do.

EDIT- I checked the specks and the soundstorm is not a monoblock and the Rockford will give much better performance.

"What ever"??

Don't tell the guy to trade off somthing that works for that somthing that doesnt just because its better quality. Its like trading a working Jensen cd player for a broken Alpine just so you can say that you have an Alpine, whats the bloody point if it doesn't work?.

Edit- I am totally wrong, please disregard.

no dvc. whats dmm? alright, i am reading the back of the fosgate and it says 400 x 2 watts rms at 2 ohms or 200 x 2 at 4 ohms. not sure if that clarifies anything...

Elinett.

Get the RF.

Its more power. 400W of underrated power to each sub.

You can just wire 1 sub to each channel. NOT BRIDGED //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

DMM= Digital Muiti meter

Voltage meter

Multimeter

Same things, just get one

It means that the amp is not 2ohm stable when bridged, you will need to run it at 8ohms bridged which will limit your power to 400watts RMS total for your subs.

EDIT- Just take the dam Rockford

11000 posts and you come up with this??

Each sub will get 200 watts whether you run them stereo or 8ohms mono.

Your not going to get 800 watts rms out of the Rockford amp with those subs, be aware of that!.

EDIT- But it will still kick the Soundstorms a$$.

ok, so supa and jsloan, since you both think diff ways will be better, what are the advantages/disadvantages of each way to hook it up?!? supa how much is a dmm usaully run about? thanks

i thought 400 x 2 at 2 ohms means i will get 400 watts from one chan, and 400 from the other. wouldn't this mean i will just run one channel of 400 watts into each sub? how would this not equal 800 total? i probably am just confused

thats exactly what 400x2 at 2 ohms means

You will only get 400 x2 at 2ohms if you hook up a 2ohm speaker to each channel.

Your subs have 4 ohm coils so your stuck either 4ohms stereo or 8ohms mono to work with because the amp won't handle a 2ohm mono load.

I reccomend bridging the amp because you want equal power to both subs at all times, hooking them up in stereo will cause one sub to fade out when the when the music fades to either side.

whether a rf amp will push 800 watts to two subs or only 400
