Would my 2 12" W7's blow if they hit over 1000watts?

i wouldn't recommend playin it all day, or using a 25hz tone...

it is fine to use more power than rated on quite a bit of subs, but it depends on the quality of the sub...

no it is not retarded, you just have to learn more about the limitations of the driver...

if you think 145 is loud I would love to see your face in a car that does 155 or louder...

as far as the 24hour comment...no...if you do that ( assuming you did it at full swing and that it didn't overheat) you could roast marshmallows off you amp and use the air displaced in the port as a furnace system....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

It is doubtful that ou will run that kind of power ever listening to music. Just because an amp is capable of providing a lot of power doesn't mean that it is always producing that level of power, or anywere near it. First consider that music is providing a lower level signal to the amp than the test tone on that CD. Second consider that you have direct control over the amount of power going to your subs with the volume knob. Worried about blowing them? Don't be an idiot with the volume knob.

doesn't the typical person get permanent ear damage from listening to something over 140 longe rthan 10mins? hahaI have a Display for my 9.0 called a VFD. it tells me everything from the gain, to the voltage of my car to the voltage of my alternator, the serial #, and some other things, but it tells me how many watts the amp is putting out and it said 1000 something on each sub cause it's a 2 channel amp and it shows 2 different wattage #'s on it, it's pretty cool, myf riend was imperssed how accurate it was. you can tell cause when yo uplay a normal song and it hits really low in a song, it usually pushes out more wattage.

well my friends brother had 2 15" treos and 2 amps i dunno wat they were but he got about 150db in his car, and yes his ears are permanently damaged, when you talk to him on the phone you literally have to yell, and It's only getting worse but I dont think he cares //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

gotta wang them things daily bro.. only way to roll...

for cryin out loud. if you're afraid of blowing them, turn the amp down. dont take chances with such expensive equipment. jl recones are ridiculously expensive. the way you talk, its more output than you'll ever use. if you get used to it and want more, turn the amp up a little. its usually not a good idea to find the absolute limit right off the bat unless you really know what you're doing, get accustomed to the sound of the woofers and all, and you'll be better equipped to later decide if you're pushing them too hard or not. i'd say give them 800-900w each and go from there.

by the way, what box are you using?

I haven't tested it too much since I've installed the Zapco VFD wattage display for my 9.0 but I played that song by Lil Jon - East Side Boys or something and it hits really low and it was th eonly song I could get to hit around the 150-170 watts range on each sub.

What kind of music or artists are being played where you're hitting over 1000 watts constantly on songs?

I'm using a ported box that's made perfect for the back of my hatchback integra where they are kinda slopped on the top and full length slot port on the front facing up . Individual chambers.

funny cause I'm sure most people think like I did. Their subs are hitting so loud people think they will blow but in reality they aren't even ever hitting over 100 watts, cause even 100 watts is pretty loud. to me anyways.

I honestly thought I listneed to bass heavy songs like rap, hiphop, rnb but even on really low loud bass songs doesn't seem like i could hit anything over 350 watts and be comfortable with it and i think my friends would say the same so how are you guys playing way over that constantly? different music or what?

I think most people dont' have any idea what wattage their amps are putting out.

Until i installed the VFD I had no idea. To think that i thought i got a lot of bass and the thing only displayed 10 watts and thought it's reading wrong and it's actually RIGHT, kinda took me by surprise. I just wanted to get confirmation from some car audio elitests that having this thing hit over 1000 watts and thinking wow this is VERY LOUD and IS THIS OK FOR MY EQUIPMENT?? is actually completely normal. I couldn't sit in it longer than 2 seconds.

I think the concensus is clear, just was hoping to get som eother answers like, what hz and songs do people usually play to get the best bass.
