Would like to introduce myself

Hey everyone, my name is Dakota. New member, but I'm not really new to the site. I've been reading the forums on here for quite awhile and finally decided to create an account and get mixed up in the conversation.

I'm new to the world of building my own audio system, but like many of you I'm in love with music, bass, and using my hands. I'm self taught in most everything I know and motivated by a passion for every aspect of the automotive customization industry. And I'm to cheap to let someone do for me what I can do myself haha!

I look forward to getting familiar with you all!

Thanks guys!

Currently most of my stuff is sitting in reserve given that I have more speakers than cars to put them in haha! But in my *****/Am I'm running two MTX thunder 10's on a JL amp. (My memory is failing me on the part #)

But my current project is a 10" Memphis mojo that will be going into an '89 Chevy extended cab. My mojo is the single speaker I plan on building my first enclosure for. I'm currently trying to do my research and find a good amp for it, but am unsure of what to run.

Memphis rates it at 750RMS. According to my local memphis dealer he claims to have always wired this sub to a 1000w rms mono block without issue.

If I knew how to post pictures of it I would. The part # is MOJO10D4

Yeah, 1000W shouldn't be a problem. First thing that comes to mind is this:

Q1-1200.2D Amplifier

Not sure if you're familiar with those, but everyone and their mom run soundqubed subs and amps. I've personally bought 2 subs and 2 amps for friends, though I don't currently run any of them. For price/quality/performance, there are virtually no equals.

Hell yeah thanks man! I've done a lot of digging and reading on here and everywhere else for that matter and its hard to land on a single amp. For what I have in this sub, I don't want a budget busting amp anyway. I've heard good things about these subs, but there isn't much info on memphis on this forum.

Yeah, memphis used to be big a while back. I think a lot of people on forums know what companies offer the best price/performance ratio and stick to those. Memphis makes quality stuff, though may not be the best bang for the buck. Good box and a nice amp should do it just fine.

I'm a firm believer that there is always something better to be had. So I can definitely see where you're coming from. I'm into this Mojo $75 new in the box, so I can't complain.

What are most of the guys on here typically running? It seems the smaller custom speaker companies seem to be most people's route anymore for true performers. Not the big names of Memphis or JL like it was when I was a kid in the 90s.

Most stuff run on here can be found on ssaudio.com. Pretty much everything on there is quality stuff. I personally wanted something not many people have and had a little extra money to spend, so I went a different direction. I also wanted to add my own reviews on here. No sense in reviewing stuff everyone already knows is great. More budget oriented setups use maxxsonics amps, which I think are pretty solid performers. I think a lot of guys on here also put a lot of thought into their systems, so they're able to get even more bang for their buck. PPI is also widely recommended on here if you're pressed for cash. You'll have a hard time finding a thread on here that doesn't recommend soundqubed, sundown, or PPI products haha There's a reason for it though, they make good products and offer good value.

You

Definitely brands I'll have to consider when I decide to purchase my amp. I really like the Sundown stuff I've seen. In fact I would really like an opportunity to do a build with their new 8" subs. Since most of my vehicles are limited on space.

I've been piecing together systems to make noise and rattle my trunk in whatever jalopy I was driving at the time since I was 16. But I'm 21 now, and wasn't until recently that I really got into professional grade audio. I've always loved it, just never had the desire to learn it like I do now. So I know I have a long road ahead of me but it'll be worth it.

Hey thanks man! Glad to be here. And to me you have to keep an open mind. How else would you grow and develop if you didn't? And that's all I really want in the end, to have a solid wealth of knowledge in whatever it is I'm doing.
