Worth the Switch? 4 15's -> 3 18's

Im sorry, i just assume they dont get too loud.
Ive read plenty reviews, and seen videos of unimpressed people. (Not alot to go off of, i know)

3 mj18's walled. 147.0 legal... Not enough in my book.

If you decide to do them, i wouldnt mind seeing the outcome. Im in the market for a new substage right now, and the 18 caught my eye.

Edit: And yes, im speaking of the original MJ's, not the newer -M's
Oh ok so you have no experience, kinda thought that. Ive YET to see a bad review, or really any videos of multiple subs. Where was the 3 18's walled?

I just cant find dink all for info on these or how they will preform

Your right.

Youtube is down right now, or else id give you the link.

Im thinking of buying an M, if they turn out well. Just that im not sure id like underpowering it with my cadence //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

15mm one way is actually 30mm total... Pretty decent.

I'd go with the 18's just for the factor of it being more impressive. Not to mention it'll sound a hell of a lot better. A low tuned box will shake the car more violently, I like the really low lows much better than a high tuning. Which is why I love my IB sub, the tuning is essentially the Fs of the sub. You aren't losing anything in cone area, the only difference is you'll probably lose a bit of upper output with a tremendous gain in lower output.

My opinion... Go for it.

Well yeah I dont meter or anything, so I kind of went the wrong way and built a "meter" setup, but its **** loud as it is. I dont know if 3 "sq based" 18's would get any louder, or hit any harder

Just curious if I would notice a difference on the 30 min daily commute, in which my stereo is almost full tilt the whole time lol. I wanna shake my liver lol

I'd take a guess that you would... though I don't have a lot of experience with large systems personally.

You aren't losing much cone area, but like you said, it is a meter based setup, and it's loud as hell, you'll probably notice the top end loss the most. SQ based 18's will get so much deeper and stronger to contrast though. But not louder, necessarily. They'll sound quite a bit better, though.

I'd go for it myself, but I'm also kinda an SQ guy, so I may be biased.

Judging from the windshield flex with those 3 MJ-18's... I would say with more room, the newer models, and almost double the power, they should get ridiculously loud for a daily driver and being that they're more SQ oriented, I think you'll enjoy listening to them more on a daily basis.

My guy THEE MIKE HUGHES had 6 15s (AA Havocs) last year , switched to 3 18s (AA Mayhems) . ANYONE that has been even near this truck knows the outcome ! 18s>15s He has it behind the second row seating also . Does a 54 @32hz. sealed at the dash and on the dash outlaw style it does a 56+ @31hz !
