Worklog for M@nJo Pics Inside ;)

Only clamps I use are 90* ones. Only place I really use them is on the port. Because everywhere else has the nice little groove to guarantee its straight. Thats what I love about the rabbeted edge/ groove system.

Actually Grant, that was my comparison of Trupan to Birch. The weight is nearly the same but birch is a little more expensive. When you compare Trupan to regular MDF, its nearly double the price (~$28-30 a sheet) and weighs in at 80% the total weight of MDF. Its quite a bit lighter. A sheet weights 76 lbs IIRC, and a sheet of MDF weighs near 100. Also, I think Trupan cuts and routes much easier, and I think it holds screws much better also.
Actually I've heard sheets of 3/4" MDF (and I've seen it on a few papers) weigh 109-120 ish.Either way, pretty heavy.

Are those torx?
You know it. They are some special yellow zinc deck screws we special ordered for a customer, who never ended up paying for them. So one of the guys where I work, gave them to me. We sell a similar deck screw that comes in a 2.5 lb package, and they run 39.99!!! Around $16 per lb! These screws are AWESOME. They self-countersink nicely. They have little "ribs" on the inside that cut away at the wood as they are being driven in. To show you how powerful and nice they work, look at this. This is what would happen if I dont let off the trigger on my drill.

**This is not the box Im working on, this was a scrap piece to show what these screws can do**

These things pull everything together nicely.

can you take some pics of how you line things up? I know how you do the sides, but do you do it on all edges or what?
Its pretty simple. Just flush everything up with my fingers. Hold it, predrill, screw. Nothing real special about it, really. Just dont rush, or it wont get flush.

Yea, it will vary, depending on brand, and where the lumber originally comes from. Those numbers are from the material we stock.

Yeap, I snagged a box of them from my neighbor's house (he has some remodeling done and the people left lots of nails and such behind), tried it on a butt joint using the same technique as my regular Fasners screws, and it went down to the joint //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
