working on box design, what do you think...

Hey guys, trying to rough out an idea for a box. Decided to sketch up a couple ideas on CAD and play with them. Thought you guys might give some input.

1998 Dodge RAM (fullsize) quad cab, rear seat removed.

05 re xxx 15 (x2)

4 cubes @ 33hz 3/4"mdf (x2) bolted together

upfiring subs, side firing ports at the rear doors

The first 4 pics are a basic design, with a couple windows (3/4 plexi). The windows are biased towards the center top to make for a better viewing angle from the front seats (or so Im guessing at this early stage).

The last couple pics are a similar design but inverted. This design concerns me 1) because it will attract theives to an otherwise inconspicuous looking vehicle, and 2) with that box size, those magnets will be reaching towards the roof (look goofy?).

Anyway, here's the pics...

A couple interior shots, see any issues (remember though this is rough)? How do the size of my port triangles look? o_O

Is the interior port end too close to the sub? Should I run the port back the other way rather than up the wall?

As I type this I came up with another possible idea for inverting the subs that has the subs stay low and the box wrap up and around them. I may think about it and draw that up too (would have angles), but Im still not sure I want to invert.

Anyway, what do you guys think so far?

edit: I haven't drawn any bracing yet, still deciding exactly what I want. But yes, I know it needs some. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Why not do a single port firing to one side? Is the box kind of tall; it looks tall in the pictures?
Threaded rod ftw.
I cannot do a single port if Im going to build 2 seperate chmabers/boxes. That has been my plan from the start, running two seperate amps (one to each sub) and having the ability to run one or the other if necessary are my two main reasons for this.
Yes, threaded rod stiffeners are a possibility.

I would do both upfiring, or if you can build strong... downfiring. Port and subs.

Also, it's quite a bit more costly... but you could consider doing the entire front face in plexi, then have a .25" trim panel with a viewing window... it would be A LOT more structurally sound than rabetting the edges...

Anyways, good design... we can continue to talk about ideas.

I'm drunk...
