1080p isn't offered on most TVs 32" and down, and its not important unless you have blu-ray/hddvd......even then a good 720p tv of a modest size won't always look worse (the eyes are only so good). 1080i is basically half the lines of 1080p. Mainly used by crt tvs because of the interlaced pixels. 1080i will look better then 720p for programming without much motion because the eyes almost see it like 1080p, but if there's much motion at all 720p or 1080p is the way to go. 1080p upconversion is more of a marketing thing then anything else. Basically all your doing is letting your tv direct connect to the upconverter to let it do all the work (through hdmi) instead of turning an anolog signal back into digital (component dvd) The problem is why do you need that upconverter to do all the work and take a 480p signal up to 1080p IF ITS A 480P SIGNAL. You only get as good as your weakest link. Now upconverters will help some with interlaced (480i for ex) signals and mesh who frames into one progressive frame, but the motion still isn't as good as 480p.I am curious why people are not reccomending the 1080p for small sizes? Although not really in this convo, I bought a 30inch Samsung Slimfit for ~$500 and it does up to 1080i (although I am not sure how 'high' that ranks) When looking at recievers, I thought 1080p upconversion would be a great feature...so does 1080p matter or no?
DLPs no, LCD rear projections...yes. Sony just abandoned their projections earlier this month. They're seriously garbage compared to DLPs and their LCD flat panel counter-parts...I don't think DLP's are being phased out...hell, they're still working on the new LED sets for them...
Yeah I heard Sony pulled out of the RPLCD market...also heard that a major name will be entering the DLP market as well..DLPs no, LCD rear projections...yes. Sony just abandoned their projections earlier this month. They're seriously garbage compared to DLPs and their LCD flat panel counter-parts...
So first you say sony isnt quiting production of rear projections, and say its only quitting production of RP's NOT using sxrd, then go on to say that projections as a whole are phasing out? Little tough to follow there bud...Sony phasing out rear projections LOL DLP is garbage compared to SXRD. The only thing sony did is quit making projections without it. And yes projection in general is phasing out. the LED DLP is a samsung last ditch effort to keep a product alive that they pwn in.
would you step it up to 1080p if it was a 42"? or is 42" still not worth it to get 1080P?32"-37" Vizio or LG, IMO.
And whoever said to get a 1080P model in this size is retarded...there is NO picture difference even with a blu-ray, and furthermore, if its used for the wii mostly anyways, what the f*ck would the 1080p resolution gain?
This is my 2minute drill on them since I sell them on a daily basis...
Vizio is probably THE best bang for the buck LCD out; business week, consumer reports and CNET agree. LG, huge electronics company, probably the best build, as well as feature that helps upscale analog and digital cable to "near-HD". I only use quotes since it really only helps marginally at best. Either one you go with, your not going to be disappointed...
