woofer wiring help

hello, i'm new to this site and new about car audio stuff so help will be pretty much appreciated. i have search at the voicecoil wiring sticky thread and didn't find the answer to my question.

my question is - is it possible to wire a dual 4 ohm subs to make it a 2 ohm?

and if it is, how do i wire it?

i have a kicker 12L7's and wired like this. on each woofer, one positive and one negative are connected to each other and the other positive and negative are not connected to each other but connected to the same + and - terminals of my amps. so does that mean i'm getting a 4 ohm output? thank you

You have two 4ohm single voice coil subs? It sounds as if you have them hooked up in series as an 8ohm load. Go back to the "voicecoil wiring options" sticky and check out post #6. If that is your setup you can wire them as a 2ohm load if you put them in parellel.

You should get a lot more power to them wired in parellel. Just make sure your amp can handle a 2ohm load.

yeah i read thru the whole post and i saw that. but the thing is mine subs are dual 4 ohm voice coil. so is it possible for this type of subs can be wired to have a 2 ohm load.

Sorry. With two 4ohm DVC subs you can either wire it as a 4ohm load (the way you described above) or as a 1ohm load by connecting all of your negatives together to your amp neg. and all of your positives together to your amp pos. as shown in post #2 on the "voicecoil wiring options" sticky. I don't believe wiring them as a 2ohm load is possible unless you are using a two channel amp and wire each sub as a separate 2ohm load driven by its own channel.

Ok lets cut through this and look at the links below. They are your only options to wire your 2 subs.

That is your only choice if you want to use all 4 VC's
