who ever said it was dc's fault, could have been done in shipping or when the basket was made .hairline cracks usually cant be seen .but it will be taken care of .

Absolutely standard throughout all warranties offered from 99.9% of all products offered around the world.

yup just like if a company sends you an amp and its doa. pretty sure theyre going to charge you atleast for the return shipping.

no chance, if i had to pay to return anything that i had purchased brand new, i would ask for my money back and go with a diff company.

it was probably just a hiccup in the casting process, like the first/last of a batch of metal that wasn't poured at proper grade, etc. it happens, and nobody inspects every unit thoroughly as it is made. anywho, it kind of looks like a shifted slug (which would lock the coil up) and, what concers me, is that you discovered this by hearing a screech. if the cone wouldn't move, then the sub would not have made that noise, rather describes the sound an amp can make, played through the speaker. have you checked out the amp? i would make sure there is no dc on the output, and then play a tone and check for good ac/hz to match, and then hook the good sub up, if that passes, to make sure it still plays, and is not damaged. if you get dc, then it can cook the subs relatively quick.

Exactly. If it's not my fault, they should be paying everything. I don't care if it's from a shipping issue, that's for the seller to take up with the shipping company. I payed for a brand new item, and I expect it in perfect, working, brand new condition. If I get anything less, that's on the seller.

I'm not hating on any company or seller here, but that's just the way it should be done. I work in a restaurant. If I mess up someone's food or drink, I pay to make it right. It's my mistake, and I pay for it. I don't have them pay for the crappy item they got.

update, still working on a resolution.....Thanks mylows10 for all your support....

I moved to Mexico 4 weeks ago, therefore shipping the sub back and forth is too expensive.

Possible solution would be that DC sends me a recone kit with a new basket and I would recone it myself....still need to be confirmed, but thats how it looks like right now.

I'll keep you updated.
