I'm 37 and married. My wife wasn't crazy about me putting a system in our car but wasn't against it, after having it in for a day or two she was listening to it louder than I was. Then we were rear ended at a stop light, totaled the car and system in it. Been a little over 2 years on stock in the new car because my back was really messed up in the wreck and I can't do the work but hope to get back in the game after I get my back fixed and the wife is completely supportive. Being in a healthy relationship doesn't mean you have to like each others hobbies but you're reasonable enough to not deny them. As long as the hobbies aren't interfering with responsibilities of course.

It seems as if papermaker has his opinion on everyone's thread. After all the typing you would think he could at least spell correctly. I believe he's a smart guy just can't put it into words. I read a post earlier that stated a budget limit of $400 on an amp and I guess according to him all amps under $400 are cheap pieces of ****! By far not true!

naw. it just pisses me off the market is flooded with **** and most people dont actually know how to tell what is **** and what isn't.

Honestly though it has a lot to do with the actually circuitry/layout more so than the PARTS. IE some amps like the arc audio KS are optically isolated between the power supply and outputs. Soe things like this fr instance undoubtedly lowers cross-talk and noise. when you have a good layout channel separation its typically a lot better. Granted you need good parts too! Like low tolerance resistors and fast switching transistors and good caps that offer low leakage among other things. It just kills me to see people recommend a really cheap amp that cost about 40-50 bucks to make and think its a AWESOME deal for 250 bucks when the stuff like sundown is not much more and use great components and great layouts and are really much better amps.

It killed me to see the soundstream refence series go down. They weren't highend but they filled that gap between your common budget boards with good parts and your highend designe that where just to **** much. And respectfully they sounded great. Not US amp mmats or arc signature or lunar awesome but they have a high slew rate higher dampening factor low noise floor and didn't have the typically "hash" sound a lot of solid state amps had(transistor amps).

I just hate to see money spend on stuff not from America and I know next to NO amps are built here but at least not some Chinese junk.

These company's are laughing at our ignorance.

They sit down and say. OK OK we make amp. Just barely better than the cheap **** and make them pay a lot more. Then they laugh all the way to the bank st us..

I will make this real simple. If it makes you happy, then do it. I had a girlfriend that hated it, it turns out she just wanted all of my attention 100% of the time. People need to have their hobbies. If you went to the gym for 2 hours a day, most women wouldn't have an issue. Spend an hour on the car and they get pissed off. Find someone that supports you, not that needs you.

That. I'll also add, don't ditch "you time" due to having a kid. You'll find yourself a shell of what you once were, wondering what happened.

Obviously don't be immature about it, and put your hobbies in front of your family, but instead find a balance.

My wife isn't into it, but we both have hobbies the other isn't really into.

How many of you out there have girlfriends that actually like your systems? Mine don't in fact no one around me in my area that I know does. My gf is always mad at me because I spend my free time messing with mine.
They all think I'm stupid at 33 messing with this stuff. I enjoy it but I do have to say I've had a run of some bad luck lately. I have a new baby, only one vehicle and not much room. I'm wondering if they are right, maybe I need to grow up...anyone else had this problem? I'm just sick of it!

Cool...you're just dealing with "big boy" responsibilities...depending on how you respond to these things will show just how much of a "big boy" you really are.

Having a hobby is important and the person in your life needs to know that and see it as a good thing...as long as it doesn't take over your life and money.

I'm 61 and love good bass...my wife, of 39 years, doesn't care but does appreciate the lack of bass when listening to music in the car...she gets it, just doesn't care one way of the other but supports my hobby...
