You are right on the racetrack, but this is neither an ellipse or oval shape because of the parallel sides it has.What you describe is an ellipse. The sub is an oval. Ever heard of an ellipse track? Nope cause it doesn't exist. It's called and oval track cause the track in is an oval shape. Who'da thought?

I think the closest shape is oblate which is a flattened round form.
(Doubtful anyone is losing sleep over that one.)
