What you describe is an ellipse. The sub is an oval. Ever heard of an ellipse track? Nope cause it doesn't exist. It's called and oval track cause the track in is an oval shape. Who'da thought?

You are right on the racetrack, but this is neither an ellipse or oval shape because of the parallel sides it has.

can someone tell me this........the xmax is 22 ok...where the subs is supposed to reach maximum output right....why is the xmech 49...sooooooooo much higher? is that normal? whats the point?

Aww I was hoping this sub had 49mm of xmax... I assumed that was the main reason why this is being called a SQ sub since an overhung motor with 49mm of xmax would have dead flat BL over its useable range if its RMS was 1kW... Oh well I’m sure it still sounds good… Looks like a nice IB candidate to me. Its always nice to have extra xmech to help prevent damage though and that’s more than typical.

According to the SD specs these have more cone area then a 12 but smaller then a 15 I'd venture to sya they are prolly close to a 13" round subs cone area.
