wiring???

alright... before i ask the question heres what i got.

friends eclipse he just bought

no cd player

500 watt (i think) 4 channel jl amp under the passenger seat (2 sets of rcas plugged in. one goes to the cd player slot, the other.... no idea...) unknown speakers are powered by this.

all wires ran from the amp go directly under the carpet

wires.... everywhere...

i dont know if the owner before him had a 2nd amp... but im guessing he did

ive wired a decent amount of subwoofers before, but never speakers. so this is somewhat new to me.

i wired up the headunit and noticed only one set of rcas near the headunit slot. hes got pre amps of rear and front. i plugged it into the front, and front speakers emitted sound. can i just take an rca splitter and plug it into both and call it a day?? would that affect the sound? or is there a better way to do things...

would the 2nd set of rcas go to another amp? (thats no longer in the car) if they dont go to the headunit? theres nothing in the trunk, under front seats, back seats... i have no idea where they end up

theres nothing more then i hate then trying to figure out what someone else did...

Since it is a 4 channel amp it would be best to run both a front and rear RCA cable from the HU. The cable that's already there probably carried the output signal from the JL to the other amp. That can stay if you plan on running subs.

i figured that might be the case. so we have pretty much 2 choices.

1 rip up the carpet, and seats, and figure out where that other rca wire runs to and run it to the hu

2 buy new rca plugs and run them down the side of the doors like everyone else...

You could just wire the speakers back to the HU and not use the amp. That wouldn't be very hard.

If you do keep the amp it will work with just one RCA cable but you will lose the ability to fade from front to rear.

yeahhhh..........defintly not wiring speakers all over again to lose out on quiality
