Length of ground does not matter as much as integrety. The only thing you add by a longer ground is the resistance of the wire. If its a high strand count wire the resistence is very minimul and not an issue. In some uni body vehicles, esspecially GM cars, if you take a reading of most peoples grounds in the back of the car, the reading is generally much higher than someone who has ran a ground all the way back to the front to the battery or engine ground. Every serious SQ car I have done I have grounded the entire system to the same point under the hood as the battery.

I just wanted to get a sweet LOOKING system put in the truck really... then drive up to some highschool and sell it to some ignorant kid for an overprices amount....

You want to get married. You have your whole life to have the nice, fun cars. If you are serious about geting married, and starting your life with this girl, you need to think long and hard about what you're about to do. seriously- Your setting yourself up for failure.
