Wiring with second battery

Ok so i just got my amp and everything to install my new equipment. I was wondering if i need to fuse my 2nd battery that will be in the trunk? Can i just run one 300 amp fuse after my battery under the hood and run the power straight to the 2nd battery i have? Then run the power to the amp? Also is it alright if i ground the trunk battery to the chassis instead of grounding it with the battery under the hood?

Wiring is the kicker 1/0 kit along with an ed9.1 and 12 fi Q. The 2nd battery is a lightning strike battery similar to a kinetik. Thanks for any help.

You fuse the power wire that runs to the back on both ends! Within 18" is good enough. If you only fuse one end and your wire is damaged the front fuse will blow, but the wire will remain hot because it is hooked to the second batt. 2 fuses between front and rear batts. no exceptions! Usually the back battery is close enough to the amp that you do not need to fuse at 2nd batt. (amp power wire) Unless the wire runs through metal that could damage it or the amp doesn't have onboard fuse.

Grounding does not have to be done at front batt. If the car is a unibody, I recommend a bolt with washers and locknut. Clean the paint off and drill the hole. Make sure you can get to both sides of the hole to bolt the ground wire down. If it is a chassis car this will work also but chassis is better IMO. Especially with more power.
