Alright I just sold my subs and amp and started planning my newest system. I bought a skar 1500.1 and a 15" VVX d4. I thought I was going to do 3 of them but that would only produce a 2.3 ohm load I think. Then I thought about doing 4 with 2 1500.1 but that would be useless because I would have 2400 watts on 2 of them, but will run @ 1. What is my best options? I have stock electrical so I know I can't run high wattage, but can't I run more @ 2 than @ 1? Thanks.

If they are dual 4ohm, you can wire 2 of them down to a final 1 ohm load. You could also have 2 of them both wired to 4ohm and get another set ran at 4ohm, run them to same channel which will bring you to a final 2 ohm load.

Okay, we'll I misread the wiring options, so I will get 3 more, but I know the higher ohms, the higher efficiency. Does this mean that I could run 2400 watts @2 with stock and it might be okay?

not exactly. no matter how you disperse the power, your still drawing a massive amount from stock electrical. at the very least I would suggest getting a second battery and a big 3 upgrade.

i have yet to run a big 3 on my truck running a 95amp alt. I have a vfl 150.1 running on it off of a khc-1800 and am doing ok. I still plan to do a big 3 in the next few weeks though

I think American Bass VFL amps are designed as 1 ohm amps with efficiency focused at 1 ohm, where as most other are designed as 4ohm, but 1 ohm stable...More efficient at 4 ohms.

Am I wrong in thinking this, or what?

I would like to know the actual efficiency of the AB VFL150 at 1ohm and the DC 3k(or any other 3k) at 1ohm

you are right. these amps can actually go down as far as ive seen to .25ohm and still keep pounding.

Sure, 600 volts, yep. If you’re trying to launch the subwoofer cones to the moon! And, that’s if they don’t just vaporize first!

Sell the dual 2 and get another dual 4.
