Wiring on 04 Chevy Headunit

I'm installing an amp and sub in an 04 silverado, connecting it to the factory headunit. Can anyone tell me which wires are for the rear speakers, and which wire would be a good remote turn-on lead?

well, if the head unit on your vehicle does not have aux outs (most likely does not have) then you'll need a line convertor. these will connect directly to your speaker lines and can control or evenamplify the amount of low, mid, or hi frequency's but is less common to use a converter. People who lease a car use line convertors than people who owna car.

I already have a line converter, i just need to know the colors of the rear speaker wires to tap into.

Right rear (-) = Light blue

Right rear (+) = Dark blue

 

Left rear (-) = Yellow

Left rear (+) = Brown

 

Your only real choice for a remote turn on wire would be Ignition wire which is Yellow. The only problem with this the amp would remain on as long as the car is running, even if you turn the stereo off. A solution to this is to run a toggle switch inline with the remote turn on switch. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help, but the colors don't match to whats behind the radio. I forgot to mention that this truck has the bose system in it, so maybe the wiring is different. Anybody else?

do not tap the wires directly behind the radio to the lineout converter... you have to tap the speaker wires AFTER the amp... or... buy a different converter for use with amplified factory systems... the LOCB.2 is one from soundgate that would work... find the wires that go into the rear doors... the wire colors will be the same as above... just find them in the harness that goes into the door.. from inside the car...
