Wiring Issues. Should be easy, but isn't...

I just got my first pair of IXL 10's in from Mach 5 today. They're d2 coils, so I was going to wire them at 4ohms and run them off of my 4 channel in order to make sure everything was ok with them. My amp started going into protect. I tried wiring the subs every which way I could, still no luck.

So I came home and was able to get my DMM to test the coils. Each coil is fine, reading right at 2ohms.

Wire it in parallel, + to + and - to -, and just as expected...

Then I wire it in series, + to - and - to +, and got the same thing...

What could to problem be? I've tried everything I can, rechecking every little thing in case I stupidly messed something up, and I get the same reading every time. If I switch the + and - wires on the second VC, I get te same reading...no wonder why my amp was going into protect, I imagine it hates being bridged at 1ohm.

you cant wire two dual 2 ohm subs to a 4 ohm load....

0.5, 2, or 8 ohm loads are yer only options i believe.

I'm wiring each sub to a pair of bridged channels of my 4 channel amp, 4ohms to each bridged channel. In the pics it's just one sub being wired.

You have the driver still coils still wired in parallel in the 2nd pic, you just switched the phase of the 2nd coil. That is why it still reads 1.1 ohms instead of the 4 ohms it should read.

Note you only need 1 jumper wire per sub to wire the coils in series and then you will have 1 + and 1 - wire (per sub) coming from your amp
