Wiring fuse in between amp and subs?

I have a Hifonics BXI2008D and it does not have a fuse in it. Could I wire a fuse holder in between the amp and the woofers? Would that be the same as having a fuse in the amp?
the fuse for the amp goes between the power source and the amp....there will never be a fuse between the amp and subs. the internal fuses serve the same purpose as the main fuse.

 
Install a fuse into the power wire right before the Batt+ input. Hifonics gives it a 200 amp rating. Use a 150-200 amp fuse.
Yeah I already had that done I just was not sure if it was going to protect the amp from blowing. Because all of the amps I am looking at have internal fuses.

 
I've wondered about this for a little while. Not as a normal step for installation, but one in a case for shops- Say they get a customer that they know is going to turn up the boost on the HU and amp all the way and then crank the volume. Would this be a reliable prevention from burning the leads (besides using 0 boost and
