wiring a 4ohm amp to 2 ohm

ok so let me know if i have it correct. im gonna take positive from amp and run it to the positive on one of the crossovers then take that same positive post and run another wire to the second crossover and repeat with the negative. that will give me a parallel wiring and reduce the amp to 2ohm giving me more power?

It all depends on the amp in question! Usually you get increased power, but, you generally get the other uglies that come along with it such as more HEAT and DISTORTION. Another downside is increased current draw.

Now there are exceptions to the rule such as Phoenix Gold Xenon amplifiers and JL Audio amplifiers with the RIPS (Regulated, Intelligent Power Supply) technology.

ummm the last 2 responses make no sense? any actual input i have a good amp a kenwood excelon 25th anniversary, has protection circuitry and thermal management and epoxy board and gold connectors, not the best amp but certainly a decent one. in 20hms it runs 124x4 i plan on using that 124x4 to power a pair of components at 124x2. i also have the option of running th speakers bipowered at 88x4 (2x88 to front left and 2x88 to front right but i would have to turn the gain way down not to distort. am using only one set of speakers so want more power

are you serious lol that soooo not going to work lol dude seriously this isnt a 50.00 ebay amp the wires dont go inside. second bridging makes 176x2....more wattage that i want going to speakers. wiring both sets doesnt make 2 ohm load i have found the answer to my thread...you reallllly need to read some more dude before you give advice. would not expect any more from a trunk monkey so no big deal. bridging would be easier but i only have a front stage so i dont need the control bridging offers. have decided on either bipowering and turning the gain down dropping down to 2 ohm speaker load makes too much heat.
