wiring a 2nd battery relay??

I would think they mean a switched ignition power source that has some decent current, the remote on from your HU may not have the nessessary current to properly operate the battery relay.

If he used a relay with the remote to draw straight from the battery would that work?

Yes, but I think that might not be nessessary, you could just splice into any switched power under the dash.

The remote out on any given HU is only rated for less then .25amp of current, thats why I suggest getting it anywhere else as most cars switched ignition sources are rated at 5amps or more.

you mean the red acc. wire going to the deck will work? isn't pathetic i really don't know what a switched ignition source is. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i know people on this forum run dual batteries. would the red acc. wire going to the headunit work, or is there another source i should use?
since you are likely going to install the relay under the hood it will be MUCH easier to find an ignition source under the hood, as well. Just use a test light to monitor a wire with the ignition off....and then on...it shouldn't take much time to identify one quickly.

i planed on installing it in the trunk. all i want to know is will the red acc. wire on the headunit work? i guess i'll just have to try and see.

what you need to know is what amperage the relay requires to be activated and THEN find out what the "red" wire puts out when it is activated.

This is how I did it... The batteries will only be connected when the system is turned on.

Obviously dont forget to fuse where necessary...

that just seems too complicated. it just says a true ignition source http://www.stingerelectronics.com/tech_department/sr200_sr80%20diagram.pdf so is the red acc. a true ignition source? i wish i could find someone who is actually using this.
A true ignition switch is any wire that gets power when the car is turned on... get out a DMM and start searching... my scheme is actually quite simple btw //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
