Wiring 1700 watt amp to 4 ohm

The only gain setting on the amp is labelled as "Bass Boost", the amp did come with a remote bass control knob, is that the one you are talking about? Also the input sensitivity is on 2V-8V the other option is 1V-2V, im not sure what the input sensitivity is or if it matters.
Phase setting is on 0 degrees the other phase option is 180 degrees. Also don't know what this means or if it matters.

Low pass filter is on 50hz, other option is 150hz, dont know what this means or if it matters.

Bridged mode is on master instead of slave.

Subsonic filter is on 10hz.

Also another stupid question, where do I plug the RCA's in? There is one dark gray wire and one light gray wire, how do I know which wire is L or R? also do i plug them into the "Line Input" or "Line Output"?
O wow man u should read the manual hahahahha

OK

Input sensitivity IS YOUR GAIN, bass boost is exactly what it sounds like a "boost" DONT USE IT, turn it off. You can leave it on 2V-8V, set it for 8V then turn slowly to the 2V side to increase the gain. That will make your voltage go up, dont use the bass boost.

For your rcas, use the ones label L and R. Dosnt matter which one since u only have one sub.

I would set your subsonic for 20-25.

Low pass filter means alot, that means nothing over 50Hz will be played. Set it for around 80Hz, so set it between 50 and 150 a bit closer to 50

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAN, do some reading so you dont fry anything. The stickies at the top of the amp and sub forms are great info for learning the basics

I appreciate the help man! Avoiding frying another sub/amp is exactly why I joined this forum in the first place.

Still need some help fixing my remote wire issue //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

EDIT: So should do anything with the input level knob at all? There is an Input sensitivity control which is two option 2v-8v or 1v-2v, I tried turning it from the 2V-8V side to achieve the 34.64 volts I need for 600 watts at 2 ohms, but the max voltage it would go up to was like 28-29. The Input level knob was at 0 at the time.

Is that a joke? He dosnt have to be careful about anything. He needs to set his gains proper VIA DMM for 500-650wrms, why would the 15 take more? Isnt it the same motor and VC.... Plus all the people that run 12in typr-rs on here give em like 800wrms so the 2ohm load is better
No..if the 12 and the 15 shared VCs and motors, their power ratings would be the exact same. The 15 is rated aboutt 750w RMS, about 150w higher than the 12, so they're obviously not composed of the same parts..

So thank you everyone for the help! I tuned the amp to put out 600w RMS (So 34.6v) at 40 volume, which is about max. Everything is looking all clean and proper, besides the box which is a POS but it will suffice until I get my second Type R in the mail in a week or two.

Only thing I have planned right now is to disable the trunk opener inside of the car so it's going to be alot more difficult to steal my system.

But just one more quick question, do you guys think a dual vented box with only one subwoofer in it would sound better or worse than a dual sealed box with one subwoofer in it? The sealed box has two seperate chambers.

Unless you're having someone design and build the enclosure specifically to your tastes and applications, do not buy ported/vented/slotted. Only buy pre-fab boxes that are sealed. IF you did get a custom enclosure design and built for your one or two 12's, I think you'd gain a lot more output and it'd probably even sound a bit better.

Well I know I powered my 12 ("rated" 600rms) @2ohms (amp said 1000watts, but most likely got like 800) daily at full tilt for almost 1.5years and I still have perfect 4's on each coil, no damage whatso ever.

Yeah I bought a prefab ported box, can someone direct me towards someone on this forum that can build me a quality box?
hey, PM groundpound4200. He's in kato and likes building boxes (or so I hear //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif)

Trust me, all type r's use the same motor and soft parts. Just a larger basket/cone.

Thanks I'll give him a pm once he clears his inbox :p where can I go to find box plans so I can do it myself?

I want mainly SPL, I listen to Rap/Hip Hop mostly, and I have lots of room in my trunk to work with. (Not sure exactly how much yet)

EDIT: 13.9 cuft, maybe not as much as I thought...
