Hey guys,

ok to start I am running a 400w kenwood mono amp, I went out and bought 2 infinity 1230w rated for 300w rms, I built a box for them about 1.25cuft each side, and I am having this problem with the one sub it seems that the wires keep blowing apart on the sub from the terminals to the coil, but just the one other one hits hard, is it the sub or am I not running the proper amp to them?

any help would be great before I take these back!

if you are blowing the braided leads off of your subs

you are seriously clipping your amplifier....

I would turn your gains down and stop over driving the amp..

bottom line is you are trying to get too much out of what you got

or....

even of you over exert the subs the spider would rip loose before

the braided leads get stretched out and ripped off

(check the spider and see if the glue came loose from the basket or former)

Well it happened once already before and I soldered it back up and it was working again for a few days and then it went again, but as for what you said it's just the braided lines everything else is good. I dont know if this will matter or not I have never had a problem with anything else I have ran but I have my amp bridged so I have both my subs wired +- right to the terminal of the box, are you following me or have I just confused you with my non technical talk, LOL

thanks though guys you are helping me out alot

The way you are connecting them, they are in parallel. That equals a 2 ohm load. Are you sure that your amp can handle a 2 ohm load? It probably can, but not 100% of mono amps out there can. Make sure before you continue to push those subs.

You cannot bridge your amp, it is a mono amp. Bridged means that two or more channels are powering a single load.

Does the braided lead appear shorter than the other 3 leads on the subs?
