Very feasable, I have an old DirectTV dish and free time and whatnot. But I'll pass on the opportunity for now. If I could get into an unencrypted wifi network that wasn't purposefully left open so students could benefit from high speed internet I would.10 miles is doable, if you're got the line of sight...get that beastie up on a roof-mounted tower about 20 or 30 feet off the ground, and your chances go up a lot. An old satellite dish with a circular patch feed could get you 20-24dBi of gain, which could be enough for that path.
So you looked into it. If you want more info use your cash to have someone do it, or get on google. I wont help you thats for sure.no seriously i dont think you can even try and prosecute for it, at least its not illegal yet, but laws still are catching up with technology
The ECPA (Electronic Communication Privacy Act) of '96 tries to make unprotected communications private where the users have an assumed right to privacy...this, however, is silly. Anything transmitted over the air can be received, processed, and monitored...to think otherwise is naive and foolish. How much effort you want to put into receiving it depends on your personal ethics.no seriously i dont think you can even try and prosecute for it, at least its not illegal yet, but laws still are catching up with technology
Are they the ones trying to steal very affordable internet? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gifjntar just curious what do you do??? not meaning to be an *** about this either but you know you are all getting pissy at me for having money but hey I work for that money and I work hard. What about these kids that have there parents buy everything for them like brand new SUV's and what not. the ones that don't work a day in there life that never have to get there hands dirty. those are the ones you should be ragging on about money
SO if your truck was parked in front of your house unlocked. I needed milk but didnt want to waste my gas. I hot wired your car and got the milk, put it back exactly where I found it, didnt break anyhting while hot wiring it. And you were only out gas and a few miles on the vehicle you wouldnt be mad? I see this as the exact same thing as the internet. It may be unlocked, you may not be hurting my stuff. You are however still stealing something that I pay for and you are using my bandwith (just like the miles and gas with the car). The ECPA (Electronic Communication Privacy Act) of '96 tries to make unprotected communications private where the users have an assumed right to privacy...this, however, is silly. Kuijo's analogy of the unlocked car is a little flawed - unless your neighbor parked his unlocked car in your living room, and asked you not to touch it.
I work in merchandising for a major computer retailer. I am not gettting pissy about you having money, just that you would steal just to save a buck. The kids that get whatever they want isnt my problem, they are getting it legit, its the parents fault for spoiling them. I dont need to rag on them about money. I'd be willing to bet that they would buy their internet. You cant back your arguement up on people that are legit. I am not mad at you or pissy. I am having a discussion on it. I just dont understand why you wont just pay for it.jntar just curious what do you do??? not meaning to be an *** about this either but you know you are all getting pissy at me for having money but hey I work for that money and I work hard.
