Wire too small to meet the 300 circular mils per amp of electrical current standard

speaker wire? probably nothing. not much of a load on it, unless we're talking high end systems with 3-4k per sub. power wire will will burn up no problem if its not the right size

 
Same as any other wire when you pass too much current through it. It'll burn up......

There's a reason you don't see people using 24 gauge wire in 30k setups

the AVIC was a tad more complicated to wire not to mention stuffing it in a smallish stereo hole. thanks for advice.
