Wire help!

I have a dual 4 12 inch sub.How do i wire that to 4ohms,2ohms,or 1phm so i know how to do each?also if you stick the positive and negative wires from 2 1ohm wired 12s into the same slots of a monblock amp it takes the 2ohms of the subs down to 1 right?Like the 2 positives into 1 slot and the 2 negatives into 1 slot.

Dual 4ohm subs can only be wired to 8 or 2 ohms. In this case you would want a 2 ohm load for the most amount of power.
