if anything, it would handle more current because its a shorter length!
the voltage doesn't matter when it comes to current.
a 10amp, 120volt mains cable, will handle 10amps at 12volts...
the difference is, that 10amps at 120volts, is 1200watts, while 10amps at 12volts is only 120watts.
