I think we are so far from having them be autonomous, the concern lacks relevance.
They are controlled by humans who can exert the level of reason, common sense, and critical thinking you describe, albeit from a safe distance.

Probably when they reach the point where they think they could actually implement.
At that point, they would have to do a lot of proof-of-concept. My nickel bet is that operation oversight and emergency override would always be part of the design equation.

Yes but a human cop can reason, use common sense and critical thinking. A robot does what it is programmed to do.

IMHO, they've taken a lot of the reasoning and common sense out of policing and replaced it with generic treat each and every situation the same like some sort of automaton. Sounds a like what they said about drones (human pilots can reason, etc), but drones are pretty damn popular.

LOL - for a guy that is so censored, RFK sure gets his message out. It's funny how censorship works, if CNN, NBC, ABC, et al don't put forth the desired narrative of the anti-vaxxers, election deniers, etc, that qualifies as censorship. When AM talk radio, FoxNews, Rumble, et al don't put forth the desired narrative of vaccine supporters, ***** rights activists and the pro-choice crowd, for some strange reason that doesn't qualify as censorship. Howard Kurtz theorizes that the Carlson and Lemon firings could lead to more "fact based" news hosts. In the case of CNN that may be the case. CNN's new CEO started cutting back on Lemon as soon as took over and has publicly stated he wants to make CNN a more neutral news organization.

OTOH, Fox has never reeled Tucker in, as a matter of fact Tucker was just becoming more and more prominent and given looser and looser reins. Beyond FoxNews' old "Fair and Balanced" tag line, Fox has never really made any attempt to be centrist. People were saying the same thing when Fox sacked O'Reily, but the just replaced Bill with somebody even more over the top and less beholden to facts.

I hope Kurtz is right, but I suspect he isn't in the case of Fox and it's probably 50/50 whether CNN can move to the middle.
