windows 7 rc

I've been running Vista + 7 betas for the better part of a year now. Vista's still my main OS as it's more stable and more reliable.

I haven't run into a lot of issues with the current Windows 7 RC, but there are still a few things that need to be fixed:

1) Drives formatted using the exFAT file system constantly lose connection. Having to reformat w/ NTFS is a pain, because 7.xx GB files (i.e. disc images, certain high def videos) need to be compressed as NTFS has more overhead than exFAT plus exFAT transfers faster.

2) UAC, while less annoying, still doesn't work as it should. I shouldn't have to right-click > Run as Administrator on certain programs to get them to work or install properly (i.e. Daemon Tools won't install properly unless you run as admin or you turn UAC off).

3) Memory leak issues when you have a ton of pictures used as your background.

When it gets a little more mature, it should definitely be a decent upgrade from Vista, albeit not a major one. It's still very similar to Vista.

1. Okay

2. Turn it off, it's not that hard.

3. My car runs slower when I have 30 people in the backseat too. I guess I'll sell my car?

Considering UAC worked PERFECTLY in earlier builds, there's no reason why I should be having to turn it off in the release candidate.

Considering there was no memory leak when you loaded up 1000+ pictures in some of the earlier beta builds, there's no reason why the release candidate should.

Like I said, these are things that NEED TO BE FIXED. I guess MS should just come up with lame excuses why their software doesn't work as intended and never try to improve anything because "you can just turn it off, it's not that hard." That's not the point ... What happens when Grandma goes to install something and it doesn't work ? Does she know how to turn off UAC or even how to Run as Admin ? Hell no ...

Apparently a memory leak issue where 2 GB of photos causes explorer.exe to consume over 5 GB of memory after a few weeks of uptime ... Yup, not a problem. I just shouldn't use that many photos ... Great response ...

Let's get it to shelves now, just brush off the problems ... That strategy worked so well with Vista //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
