windows 7 home premium $29 (students)

Which one? The one in the OP and the one I'm getting from my University are both full retail versions.
nG
how is the one in the OP a full retail version when the link says upgrade and even the picture posted is a picture of an upgrade box?

i guess if you read the whole thread it becomes clear it is the full version, but not by looking at the OP

i get mine free through work anyway

I was wondering the same thing....But if you read on the site from that link it tells you how to do a "custom install" and says if you have XP you have to do a clean install. I kind of wonder if it asks you for an XP serial though...but if it does I will just use the VL one from work or school anyways...or one of the OEM ones from Sysprep if it works.

you can not do an upgrade from xp. if you have vista you can use the upgrade:fyi:
It's weird how it works. You can use the upgrade to upgrade from XP or Vista. XP and Vista Home Basic require a clean install, but the upgrade copy can be used. Vista Home Premium and higher can use the upgrade copy to keep everything on your computer. The only reason you would need a full copy is if you're building your own computer. I sell these. I know.

I got my Win 7 x86 and x64 pro both free. I got it through MSNDAA for being in an IT degree seeking program through my college.
Yeah me too and you can use the 32 bit key to activate the 64 bit version so I installed it on my laptop and desktop.

thanks man,i was thinking it was a driver issue, i remembered this car was OC'd from the factory, never thought that might be the problem
i put my OC tool back on and detuned it a little bit, it hasnt started artifacting yet ill see how it does for the long run
Just letting you know, this is a common problem and I suffer the same problem. I have an eVga 7900GT on Win7 and have been facing the same problem for the last few months.

It's something with the stock frequencies, you can ddo as you did and underclock it, or you can overclock it just a bit. I overclocked mine another 10Mhz or so and it is no longer an issue, though sometimes the drivers reset the clock speed and I need to reapply the changes.

Just letting you know, if you search on some computer forums it's a pretty common problem and I believe most video card manufactures made an announcement in regards to it. I know eVga did at least //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

step up to a EVGA 8800 son!!!

I have Vista Home Premium 32-bit on my desktop. Anyone know if I can bump up to Windows 7 64-bit without a new install?

Any big advantages to having 64-bit? Other than extra ram capabilities?

I believe you need a 64 bit processor to do that.
You would be correct. 64bit OS will not install if you do not have a 64bit processor.
