window tint, unhappy install...

Well then what do they do? Just not tint where the dots are, but all of the rest of the window?
some places sand it off. those black dots are there only to help reduce sunlight from getting in the car. mostly seen on upper section of windsheilds near the rear view mirror.

I am going to walk into this shop tomorrow after my first day of school starting at OMG 8:00am and say excuse me sir, but your tinter did an awful job on the dot matrix i suggest sanding them off and retinting that window please sir.

Local tint place around here told me when tinting my car, the companies they get the tint from only makes 25% and 35% besides lower/higher %. Since SC gay law is 27% they can't use 25 and forced to use 35%.
that makes sense, i would imagine a 30% film, but i guess there isnt enough difference to really tell.

O.K. I just got back from the shop. I went in and said that i had just had my windows tinted about 5 days ago and everything looks great except for the dot matrix because they tinted over it.

His reply.." Well you see, most places run a straight cut at the bottom of the dot matrix so they don't have to worry about anything. But here we decided that it look horrible from the inside, and mostly from the outside so we just tint over them. It will take a little while, but all the air bubbles that don't flow together will eventually look uniform and consistent. It is the heat that will make it look better, but it will take time."

So honestly i can see some spots where it seems the gaps and bubbles seem to gain some consistency that weren't there before. I am hoping that he didnt lie to me and it will all look uniform in a month or so.

My girlfriends accord has that dot matrix on the back glass also, neither my tint guy, or myself could get the tint to stick at all. Ended up cutting the tint and doing a piece of vinyl back there. Looks 1000x better

the black dots are called a dot matrix, and it can be tinted on if the person knows what they are doing.
x2, but is still hard as hell to get it just right. Had a bish of a time doing my cavaliers, to the point I put that ghey luvar on it, lol!

Also most professional shops do dark tint, they just have you sign a waiver to cover their *****.

He is lieing to you as he don't want to use more tint. Too much money he is losing, period! It has a life-time warranty, so take it back and have him redo it!

Also those bubbles around the dot matrix will not go away, trust me. I have done two cars that have these and is hard as hell to get done the right way. I suggest the vinyal thing as well. Never thought of that before.

Yeah thats a very shitty looking back glass. I would definately go back and make them get it right. Although, tint does not stick to those dots very well at all. When I had my mustang done the local shop suggested I let them put Vinyl across the top where all the dots were. I let them do that and it looked great.

Yes, some places will not tint the "Dot Matrix" area of the window. And to me that looks 100% worse. Yes if looks bad but thats as good as it gets. As for the side widows, once again the dot matrix comes into play. The tint is unable to completely contact the window thats why you see the line.
