ok i have a eclipse ti pro 15 quad coil i had two amps running to it both two chanel amps 1 chanel to each voice coil but i blew one of the amps can i still run the one amp on two vc's or would this be bad to run only two of the coils until i get the amp fixed or replaced

What are the coil ohms for those subs?

And no, you will not damage anything if you only wire 2 of the voice coils.
YES YOU WILL! DON'T DO IT EVER!

There is a reason that the manuals warn against doing that, shame on you tony, shame. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Not using all the coils shouldnt hurt the sub in itself, power handling will obviously be cut in half and the T/S params will gets all messed up, but I dont see how it can actually hurt... maybe somebody can correct me.

^My thoughts. But I chose not to argue because STONE normally knows his stuff, he spits out all kind of technical info... Where is he for the exact reasons?

You are correct. As long as you don't overpower the sub (power handling is cut in half), nothing will be damaged. Like you said; T/S params will change, which means enclosure size and the subs performance will change......but nothing will be damaged as long as you don't overpower those two coils, and you don't overexcurt the sub.

You missed it, it says its a quad 4ohm.

The subs characteristics go all to hell when all coils are not wired up, its like unplugging a few sparkplugs on your engine, it will still run but it will be ugly.

as for wiring

take two speaker terminals and wire them in series to get 2ohms, then do it to the other two.

now connect one series pair to the left channel and one to the right.

Each series'ed pair will get 500 watts rms according to maufacturers specs.

Run the positive output of the amps right channel to one speaker input then run the negative of that input over to the next speaker inputs positive then run the negative back to the right channel negative terminal, repeat this with the left channel and the remaining 2 coils.

Technically it will not damage the coils if all are not wired up but it puts the sub in a situation where it could be damaged much easier than usual. People are told just not to do it period to avoid any confusion.

thanks for all the input im gonna go ahead and just unhook it for now ill have the second amp fixed in a few days and hook them all back up so ill have my 750 going to each coil i found out why the amp blew in the first place my friend who helped me hook it up hooked one of the vc's wrong he crossed the + and - for that coil it fried the amp luckily nothing happened to the sub i checked it out to make sure my amp was on warrenty so it'll be fixed for nothing or replaced so i dont have to kill my friend i havent talked to him since the amp blew he claimed he didnt do it but its straight he made a mistake it could happen to anyone
