i think so. A friend of mine used to have a jeep and the cd player was in the center console facing up. No problems.

the simple answer is no. the long answer is no. you have to buy a cd player that is listed as okay for vertical mounting. Most cd players will only work a few degrees off of horizontal, like less than a 30 degree tilt. Sony makes a couple that will work 60 degrees off of horizontal.

What i have seen done is to buy a cd player with a removeable face plate, and mount the face plate in the dash where you want. run a cable to connect the faceplate to the chassis, and hide the chassis wherever you want to.

idk depends on the deck maybe... ive seen some that in the manual said do not mount with more than 30 degrees angle

the cd on most cd players id held in place by magnetic devices IIRC, and they usually are not strong enough to make the cd player hold the cd in a vertical mount

pioneer 7700 i dont want to mount it in my dash because my window on my drivers side is busted and wont roll up and i dont have money to fix it so i was looking for a way to hide my hu

i thought about the glove box but i dont have a remote so id have to reach over to turn it up or down
