Will the box make the difference

i just bought a ma quart amp....runs 1200w @ 1ohm.....and a DVC 2ohm Cadence 12"....i thought it would be this little powerhouse system....i feel like my duals were loader.....lol....right now it's half *** in a box i haven't made one for it yet....but i am going to.....will that make that big of a difference.....or maybe i didn't wire it right?.....i wired the sub this way....

theres nothing i have to do to the amp to make it run at 1ohm except wire the sub that way....right?....another thing alittle different is that i used a 4 gauge wire insteed of the 2 gauge it calls for...WTF?

wire it correctly and get it into the right box....it will sound alot better than half a$$ing it
