How much should a 250 watt RMS sub put out?

Would it shake pretty good and at least put out some pretty loud bass? I got my 250 watt RMS sub hooked up to a 500 watt amp (I have it bridge on a 2 channel amp) and it seems like its not getting very much power at all. When I turn on my HUs CS-A mode set it to user and turn all the speakers true bass to 0 and the subs to 9 I can barely hear any bass at all. I think something might be messed up. What could it be?

I know but my rear 15 watt speakers seem like they are putting out more bass. Something is screwed up.

My 50 watt Home theater sub puts out way more bass then this

how many pre amps does your deck have? it could be that somehow you have your rca's running to the front or rear and not a sub out. have you tried fading up front or the rear to see if it gets louder then? also how high do you have your gain set up?

My gain is almost all the way down because I dont want to blow the sub (since its over powered by like 250 watts)

The RCAs are plugged into the Sub out on my head unit (Just double checked) and they are running into the "RCA IN" on my amp. My amp does have an RCA out as well what is that for?

it is all install dependant....

in my gfs car i used to run 1-200w 12" sub off a 500w amp, and it would kill most dual 12" subs off double the power. i ran a a 6th order parallel bandpass box.

Here is the way I look at it. You have a 500 watt amp and a 250 watt sub in my head I would figure you would be all good if you turned your gain up to half way that would be 250 watts half of 500 then that would push the rms to your sub all day long and you should be good at the sime time I am still a roook so I may be wrong but I dont see how the sub could be doing anything if you have the gain all the way down

oh and if I am wrong in that statement if someone with more knowledge then that tell me in a nice way I know how you can get slammed on here sometimes but I am just learning as well and in my rook brain that sounded right
